Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur, conducted a two-day pastoral visit to Sacred Heart Church, Edakkadu, from Saturday, 28 February 2026 to Sunday, 1 March 2026.
After the canonical reception, the faithful of Sacred Heart Church, Edakkadu, attended Vespers, Benediction, the Eucharistic celebration, and other ceremonies of the pastoral visit. As part of the visit, he met with the Parish Pastoral Council members, the BEC (Basic Ecclesial Community) leaders, and the catechism teachers of the parish.
The Parish Council Secretary, and the office bearers of Catechism, Holy Childhood, Little Way, KCYM, and the BEC leaders presented brief reports on the activities of the various parish ministries. The Bishop visited the cemetery and prayed for the departed souls. He also visited a BEC unit along with Rev. Fr. Titus and the Sisters. Prior to the pastoral visit, Msgr. Sebastian Vaz (Vicar General) and Rev. Fr. Ajeesh Cletus (Financial Administrator) verified the church documents, registers, and accounts.
Very Rev. Dr. Sajan Thankachan, Judicial Vicar and Additional Secretary to the Bishop, conducted a class for the newly elected BEC members. The Bishop also had an interactive session with the members of the parish. Rev. Fr. Titus (Parish Priest), Rev. Fr. Vinod (Superior), and Rev. Fr. Jithu (Assistant Parish Priest), along with the Sisters of the Rosminian Convent, Nellimukal, and the Pastoral Council members, worked diligently to organize the pastoral visit.
