Punalur: Bishop Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan said that believers should strive to witness the realization of Jesus’ dream in the world by receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit and being formed as one family in God’s love.He also called upon the faithful to journey together as pilgrims of hope.

The Bishop was delivering the introductory message at the Holy Mass held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Punalur, on the occasion of the diocesan conclusion of the Jubilee Year 2025.Thiruvananthapuram Malankara Catholic Archdiocese Auxiliary Bishop Yohannan Mar Alexios delivered the homily during the Holy Mass.Sharing the life experience of Pope Francis, Bishop Mar Alexios reminded the faithful that the Jubilee Year is a holy time to open the gates of the heart to receive God’s grace and blessings.

He emphasized the need to form a culture of love, justice, and truth, inspired by Saint Joseph, the protector of the Holy Family, and noted that every moment of doing good in human life is a moment of encountering God again.

Msgr. Sebastian Vas, Msgr. Joseph Roy OFM Cap, and Rev. Dr. Roy B. Simson were the concelebrants.As part of the Jubilee celebrations, clothes were distributed to the needy and study materials were given to schoolchildren.Msgr. Sebastian Vas, Rev. Fr. Ajeesh Cletus, Rev. Fr. Justin Zacharia, Rev. Fr. Shinto, Sister Lancine SRA, Rev. Dr. Ajit Kumar K. C., Rev. Dr. Christy Joseph, and Rev. Fr. Colin Napoleon coordinated the arrangements.Priests, Sisters, members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, the Secretary and Treasurer, BEC coordinators from various parishes, and representatives of lay organizations and pious associations of the Diocese participated in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

After the Holy Mass, Bishop Selvister Ponnumuthan honored Shri Tom Jacob, a member of the Diocese of Punalur, who won the KCBC Media Award. He also congratulated Shri Nelson Sebastian, newly elected Punalur Municipal Councillor from the CathedralMsgr. Sebastian Vas proposed the vote of thanks.Special thanks were expressed to Rev. Dr. Johnson Joseph, Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Punalur, and the members of the Parish Pastoral Council.
